Obituary of Earlene Anne Holman

Earlene Anne Holman passed away in Abilene, Texas on November 5, 2022, to be with the Lord.

She was born in Clinton, Missouri on April 15, 1937, to O.J. and Frances Horton. She then moved to a rural area near Columbia, Missouri. As a child she was very involved in many 4-H activities. She graduated in 1954 from Hickman High School in Columbia, MO. She attended the University of Missouri majoring in Child Psychology. She was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.

While attending the University, she married, the love of her life, Jerry Holman on April 13, 1957. They started their adult life at Fort Sill, Oklahoma where their first daughter Michelle was born. After Jerry’s tour of duty ended, he started his career with Honeywell Aerospace Operations, and they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where their second daughter Kimberley was born. During the next 35 years she and the family lived in Claremont, CA; Mercer Island, WA; Upland, CA; Bellevue, WA; Albuquerque, NM and Minnetonka, MN. Their sons Robert was born in Bellevue, WA and son Gregory was born in Pomona, CA. The family traveled throughout the Western US, Canada, and Mexico extensively during this period utilizing their trailer/motorhome. Overseas travel included Japan, South Korea, England, Italy, and Jerusalem.

Throughout her adult life Earlene was a devoted mother guiding the development of her four children. She also expertly managed the household during the many relocations and Jerry’s business travels. Her objective in life was to be a mother and wife and her accomplishments were many. In 1990 when Jerry retired, they moved to San Antonio, Texas and in 2004 moved to Abilene. Earlene was a strong advocate for the rights of the handicapped. She was a born again Christian and was baptized in 1977 in Bellevue, WA. While in San Antonio, she led a Beth Moore Bible Study for the mothers of special needs children. She was a member and a Discussion Leader of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for 13 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Abilene.

Earlene is preceded in death by her parents, O.J. and Frances Horton, brother, Dr. Jack Horton and grandson Jeffery Michael.

Earlene is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jerry L. Holman; four children; daughter, Michelle Anne, and husband Ford Michael of Lincoln, CA, daughter, Kimberley Kay, and husband Larry Neidig of McDade, Texas, son, Robert Edward Holman, and wife Jill Holman of Cocolalla, ID, son, Gregory Alan Holman living at Disabilities Resources Incorporated in Abilene; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 13, 2022, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.

Funeral services will be held, 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2022, at First Baptist Church, Abilene, 1333 N. 3rd St. Abilene, with Rev. C.V. Blake officiating. Private interment will follow at The Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
