Vern Bowling is the best man I have ever known. As a hobby he was a mechanic for fun. By trade an aerospace engineer. A hero that was a fighter pilot, a test pilot and an engineer that contributed to bringing the stranded Apollo 9 home. He a has a flag from that recognized award and Presidential Citation. My condolences to her extended family. I was once betrothed to Vern's wife Janet's sisters for long enough to still be considered family by him. He was a honorable man taller than most men.
