Mickie and Paula, Your family meant so much to me and my family for over 60 years. I have often spoken about you dad being one of the two greatest influences on my life along with my dad. His leadership as a scoutmaster allowed me to attain my Eagle. As you know, the Eagle opens doors throughout our lives and he was directly responsible for encouraging, teaching, mentoring, and guiding me along the way. Once I came back to Abilene, he was one of the first to greet me when we rejoined St. Paul. He quickly plugged me into being an usher. As my mother transitioned to needing assisted living, we ran into our mom and dad in the cafeteria at Wisteria. He was so patient with your mom. I know he was faithful in his care for her until the very end. Ironically, I was wondering about them just last week. Almost immediately I learned of his passing. I know God was messaging he about him. Blessings to both of you. He was a great man who had a wonderful life and touched so many people along the way. My prayers are lifted up for you now and going forward as well. Joe Bob Alexander

Paula, I was so sorry to read of James' death. I knew him for years on the gold course and around the city. He was always smilling and so upbeat when I would see him. A fine gentleman who will be missed.

Mr. Wheeler was as good as they come--devoted, tough, and always dependable: never missed Methodist Mens Breakfast cooking for ALL of us. Just shook his hand Sunday after Holy Communion, what a good & Godly man. I always held the highest respect for Mr. Wheeler, St. Paul won't be the same without him. RIP Mr. Wheeler.
