Dennis Earl McElfresh, 53, of Abilene, passed away on December 25, 2021, in Abilene.


Dennis was born in Hillsboro, Texas to Richard and Linda (Lovelady) McElfresh on Friday, September 6, 1968. He graduated from Wylie High School in 1987. He married Stacy Rene’ McMillan in Abilene on September 30, 1991. Dennis and Stacy just celebrated 30 years of marriage this past September. Dennis loved being outdoors, camping, and cooking out. He was the operation manager for Linde Gas and Equipment for many years. Dennis served in the U.S. Air Force during Desert Storm. Dennis was a member of Potosi Baptist Church along with his wife.


Dennis was preceded in death by his uncle, Preston Patty; father-in-law, Tony McMillan; nephew, Guy McMillan; and grandparents, Elvis and Patsy Lovelady.


Dennis is survived by his wife, Stacy McElfresh of Abilene; three children, Ryder McElfresh, Rowdy McElfresh, and Eva McElfresh, all of Abilene; two grandchildren who loved and affectionately called him “Chief”, Rylee “Gracie” McElfresh, and Maverick McElfresh; parents, Richard and Linda McElfresh of Abilene; three sisters, Laurie Norton and husband Ed of San Antonio, Missy Fenton of Abilene, and Mindy Donham and husband Todd of Roby; cherished aunt, “Uncle Patty”, three cousins who called him their “brousin”; June Tedford and husband Rodney, who was the best brother a guy could ask for, April Shew and husband James, and Kandi Johnson and husband Keldon, all of Abilene, also by his best friend Abel and wife Melissa Castillo of Abilene, and many others.


Pallbearers: Rodney Tedford, Abel Castillo, James Shew, Tyler Schaffer, Jake Norton, and Hunter Spohn.


Services will be private and are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd.
