Kelli and Cole. I met your dad during the fall of 1975. We were just starting our freshmen year at ACU. At first thought it didn't seem like he and I would have much in common. Your dad being from the Panhandle, and I was from Michigan and a bit out of my element in Texas. I like to think that maybe God intervened and brought us together because of our faith, and our love of basketball. Your dad was the enforcer on the court, the ultimate teammate, and I loved being on his team, so he and I quickly developed a friendship. And I am so glad that we did, because our friendship ended up lasting a lifetime. Through the years after college, if your dad and I hadn't talked in a while, when we did
talk we didn't miss a beat catching up on family and life. More recently over the last several years, your dad and I would text regularly with our group of ACU buddies, making sure we kept up with each other. Two years ago your dad, Bob D, Rob S, and I had a nice weekend reunion of sorts, and I can tell you that your dad's storytelling had me laughing to tears. It was so great to just be with him. I will miss him tremendously and I am heartbroken that you have lost your father, your best friend, and Pops to your children. He was a good, good man.
Rest easy Slick
