Hilton E. (Tony) Morgan passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Tony was born February 2, 1926 in New Athens, Illinois.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps in WWII. He attended Southern Illinois University and graduated from Baylor University in Waco, TX in 1951, with a Master of Science Degree. Tony married Gwen Morgan in Ballinger, TX in 1949. He was a graduate of General Motors Dealership School in Flint, Michigan. Tony was part owner of Morgan Motors, a Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Cadillac, and GMC Dealership in Ballinger. He and his wife Gwen owned and operated Morgan's Ready Towing, also in Ballinger. He worked for JC Penny in Spokane, Washington. Tony was employed by Humble Oil, now Exxon Mobil, in the marketing department for 13 years, served in Abilene three times, Big Lake, Houston, and Dallas. He was employed in Abilene in the sales and management roles of Sears department store for 18 years, retiring in 1986.
Tony was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church since 1959. He was a Master Mason, Scottish Rite Mason, and a Shriner for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Lia, and his wife Gwen.
Tony is survived by a daughter, Dr. Tona Gilmer and her husband Dr. Peter Gilmer, and a grandson, Dr. Justin Gilmer.
A private family graveside service will take place at Elmwood Memorial Park, under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

The family first began in the funeral business in 1933. The Hamil's legacy, beginning with the Elliott's to John and Jo Ann Hamil and now continuing with Robert and Karla Hamil, is to serve families in their time of need.
