Bettye and Doc was friends of the Rich family when we lived in Abilene both times. It was a privilege to be their pastor at Belmont
We loved when they visited us and we were able to visit them and go on trips together. We know we will see them again and rejoice in Bettye’s home going and pray Gods hand of Peace be on Bob and the rest of the family. Thankful God gives us the ability to have memories that keep our family and friends close to our heart.

"What can I do for you" was always the greeting from Bettye. She was truly a woman of grace, creativity, loving-kindness and spunk. Whatever the task before her, she did it with competence and perfection. Her last alteration for me was a bridesmaid's dress worn by my sister at our wedding. She fitted it to me to wear at our 50th anniversary dinner. Bettye worked magic with a needle and thread.
What a reward she is experiencing now! To Bob, Lyn and family...we loved her too and pray for each of you as you adjust to this huge void in your lives. She loved you so.

Betty Tyler was one of the sweetest, nicest and upbeat people I have had the pleasure of knowing. Every time I went to the cleaners, I looked for her and she always knew my name and asked about friends. She was just a delight !! She will be missed by many people. There certainly was a celebration in Heaven!!

God Bless Mrs. Bettye Tyler. She touched so many lives. She maintained such an upbeat positive Spirit throughout....even through health-challenges that would have broken most others. And she always asked how we were doing while ignoring the fact that she was the one we should be asking about. I love Bettye Tyler for loving all of us first, and for taking such good care of so many. I am glad that God has her in His arms this evening and forever. Amen.

It has been my distinct privilege and honor to walk with Bettye these last few years as her Sunday School teacher at Lyndale Retirement Home. Bettye definitely taught me more than I ever taught her! She is a Proverbs 31 woman and I am humbled and blessed to have had her as a friend! The last few verses of Proverbs describe her so well: 26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Bettye never gave up! When we are young the “fear of the Lord is the beginning of our path of godly wisdom at the end of our years as shown by Bettye’s life the fear of the Lord is a proven fact and legacy of noble Christian character. Thank you Bettye for leaving us such a great testimony and admonition for the perseverance of the Gospel in our homes, lives and churches by your noble character, by the way you prayed, by the way you loved and encouraged so many. I will miss that personal encouragement! You were and are a blessing! Well done good and faithful servant I will miss you till we meet again on that bright and beautiful shore! Love in Christ, Darrin Ray.

Bettye was such an important person in our family's life. She taught my mom, Norma Schaffer, in Sunday School at Pioneer Drive for years. And when I got married in 1988, she wrote a tribute and presented it during our rehearsal dinner before the wedding, in Ballinger. She was an inciteful, loving Christian woman and I will miss her terribly. I had the privilege the last time I was in Abilene a few years ago of taking her out to dinner. We had a wonderful talk. Sincerely, Andrew Schaffer (son of Herman and Norma Schaffer)
