Obituary of Francys Cameron Case
Francys Cameron Case, 76, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2007 at a local hospital. Visitation will be at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 22. A memorial service, with Bishop Dan Solomon, Rev. Archie Echols and Charles Hundley officiating, will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church on Monday, April 23 at 3:00 p.m. Fran was born in Wichita, Kansas on July 13, 1930 to Wayne and Estella Cameron. She graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She married Harold "Bud" Case August 26, 1949. Fran was the church secretary at St. Stephen's Methodist Church in Amarillo, Texas where she and Bud raised their two sons, Roger and Marc. Bud and Fran moved to Abilene from Danville, California in 1988. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Ringo Drilling Company until her retirement. Fran was a joy to anyone she came in contact with. She had many friends whose lives she enriched. Fran loved playing bridge, attending Cooper athletic events, especially basketball games and being a member of the Inquirers Sunday School class at St. Paul United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed volunteering at Jackson Elementary School and the Thrift Shop. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bud Case. Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Kathi Case of Hobbs, New Mexico and Marc and Linda Case of Abilene; two grandchildren, Kelli Case of Chandler, Arizona and Chris Case of Locust Valley, New York; a brother, Miller Cameron of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews. Sonny Goode, Jim Holmes, Kevin Long, Dale Doby, Ray Shaw, and James Rike will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Doyle Nash, Russ Menke, Hershel Kimbrell, Tommy Estes, Ed Grothus, Cooper High School and Clyde High School basketball players past and present.
