Obituary of Fleta McDonald Forsman

Fleta Forsman, of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the age of 93. There will be a memorial service at a later date in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Local arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. February 7, 1914, Fleta was born in Neosho, Missouri to Thomas Franklin McDonald and Lenora (Payne) McDonald. McDonald County in Missouri was named in honor of her family. She graduated from high school in New Mexico and attended the University of New Mexico. During World War II, Fleta worked on the B17 aircrafts for Lockheed. She later became a technician for research and development for the Sandia Corporation in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She worked on the first computer that was installed for the Sandia Corporation. In 2004, Fleta moved to Abilene from Albuquerque to be near her family. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Albuquerque. Fleta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Otto Forsman, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Trotter and her husband Dr. Bob Trotter of Abilene; four grandchildren, Katherine Trotter of San Antonio, Texas, Kristine Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Karoleigh Armstrong of Abilene and Robert Trotter of Lewisville; five great-grandchildren, William Paige Gollihar III, Trotter Gollihar, John Taylor, Ellen Taylor and Val Armstrong; and two nephews, Clyde McDonald and Tom McDonald. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff in the nursing care center at Wesley Court and to Hospice of the Big Country.
