Zakarie Paul Ross, 29, passed away August 23, 2022. He was born in Abilene on May 21, 1993.

A Celebration of Zak’s Life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 2, at Hawley Church of Christ, 410 Church Street in Hawley. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home in Abilene.

Zakarie will be remembered for his avid love of fishing and hunting. He was a self-taught fisherman, always learning the best techniques for each type of fish. He enjoyed doing anything that had to do with the outdoors. He was very artistic, and could paint, sculpt, or build anything he put his mind to.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Steve and Sharon Scott, his grandfathers, Dale Ross and Ray Franklin, and his brother, Baby Boy Ross.

Zakarie is survived by his mother, Penny Scott Ross; father, Larry Ross; biological father, Paul Hicks; his twin sons, Nathan and Graison Ross; soulmate, Lydia Borrego and their daughters, Zayyliah Ross and Laylah Borrego; twin brother, Nathan Ross and his children Luna Isabella and Axel Zakarie Ross; sister, Crystal James and husband Matt and their children, Elizabeth, Abigail, and Jeremiah James; sister, Ashley Blevins and husband JJ and their son, Daniel Blevins; sister, Britney Sutton and husband Kris and their children, Ava, Leighla, Jayden Jack, Mia, Neva, and Cora Sutton; grandmother, Bobbie Ross Franklin; great-aunt and uncle, Wanda and Larry Caddell; his dog, Niko, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved and will miss him dearly.

Zakarie’s family wishes to extend special thanks to Troy and Pearl Penney at T & R Mechanical Demolition, where Zak worked.
