Wilma L. Hale Hall gracefully passed from this earth on Thursday March 3, 2011 with loved ones by her side.
Born Wilma L. Hale in Eskota, Fisher County, Texas, she was the daughter of Clifton and Lilleen Hale. She attended Roby High School and graduated as Salutatorian of her class in 1951.
Wilma married David Lewis Hall on February 9, 1952. They were married for twenty years and lived in various locations including California, New Jersey and Texas while David served his country in the Navy. After the death of her husband in 1972 Wilma moved to Abilene where she continued to raise her children. She studied and became a Certified Medical Assistant and worked for many years with Abilene physicians including Dr. Cockerell, Dr. Snow and Dr. Stackhouse before her retirement.
Wilma's passions included being with her family, worshipping the Lord, singing with friends, working in her yard and growing beautiful flowers. She was a long-time member of Southern Hills Church of Christ. She lived her life with full vitality. She loved many, was loved by many and never complained during life's difficult moments. Most of all Wilma loved her family and stood strong in her moral convictions. She was and will always be an extraordinary example of a faithful Christian woman.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by her sister Jane Melton and husband Richard of Abilene; brother Jim Hale and wife Melinda of Springdale, Arkansas; four children: David Hall Jr. and wife Rebecca of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Doug Hall and wife Carole of Brenham, Texas, Don Hall and wife Becky of North Richland Hills, Texas, Susan Kaplan and husband David of Milford, Connecticut; twelve grandchildren: Sophia Saumell, Jason Stokes and wife Angela, David Hall III and wife Meg, Aimee Hall, Brad Hall and wife Cindy, Caleb Hall, Sarah Yeates and husband Jeremy, Casey Brown and husband Jordan, Michael Hall, Clif Fisher and wife Christine, Jennifer Fisher and Jacob Fisher; seven great-grandchildren Christian, Gabriel, Joshua, Cody, Aiden, Bethany and Farrest Jr.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 6th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. in Abilene.
A celebration of Wilma's life will be held on Monday March 7, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Southern Hills Church of Christ, 3666 Buffalo Gap Rd. in Abilene with Dr. Doug Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Sweetwater Cemetery in Sweetwater, Texas at 2 p.m.
