Wilma Jean "Jeanie" McBride Cornelius was born on July 13, 1939 in Jacksboro, Texas. She passed from this life on Saturday, December 19, 2020 in Abilene, at the age of 81.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Elmwood Memorial Park with Pastor Jeff Hatcher, officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Jeanie was born to Edna Mae (Kinder) and Floyd Marshall McBride. In 1992, she graduated Top of Class from Paris Junior College LVN School giving the Valedictory speech. She was a talented writer having numerous articles published in local newspapers and working as a columnist for the Farmers Branch newspaper in the 1960's.
Jeanie loved all sports. It started with her dad taking her to see the Wichita Falls Spudders (a semi-pro baseball team) play. While raising four boys, she served as Team Mom for her son's little league baseball teams. She enjoyed watching them play baseball, basketball, football, soccer, running track and cross country. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks fan. She also enjoyed watching any televised college and professional games.
Jeanie loved her Yorkshire Terriers – Zhivago, Tasha, Kiki, Molly Sue, and Lola. She also loved the outdoors, especially when she was camping and fishing. She was a World War II history buff. She was well read and studied on the subject. Jeanie loved to travel. Some of her most favorite trips were to Hawaii, Ketchikan, Alaska, Mexico, and Europe with a highlighted visit to Normandy Beach. In her later years, she obtained her dream car, a white Corvette, which she enjoyed sporting around town until she had to give up driving.
Jeanie is preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Laura Lynn Andrews; and siblings, Lloyd McBride and Boyd McBride (twin brothers), Jessie Marie "Sister" McBride Penland, Delmar Stephen (Stevie) McBride, and Deborah Kay McBride.
Jeanie is survived by her four sons, Gary Keith Lynn and wife Lora, Randy Paul Lynn and wife Dawn, David Wayne Lynn and wife Tammie, and Charles Andrew "Chuck" Lynn and wife Dana; one brother, Marshall Leon McBride and wife Carol; one sister, Marilyn Sue McBride McLaughlin; six grandchildren, Taylor Lynn and wife Ashley, Keith Lynn, Karyn Lynn, Whitney Lynn Smith and husband Jay, Gabriela Lynn, and Jared Lynn; and four great grandchildren, Madisyn Andrews, Dillon Andrews, Piper Lynn, and Mackenzie Lynn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
