Willis Allen (W.A.) McDonald, Jr., 81, died Sunday, December 27, 2009, at an Abilene medical center. The son of Frances Elaine (Shoup) and Willis Allen McDonald, Sr., he was born on November 4, 1928 in Abilene, Texas. He was a 1946 graduate of Abilene High School and attended college for one year. On May 11, 1978, he married Wanda Christeen Brown in Baird, Texas. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Mr. McDonald worked as a foreman for Timex 26 years; for Treanor Ford; and later as owner of McDonald Trailer Sales. W.A. was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Warren McDonald. Survivors include his wife, Christeen Winkles McDonald of Abilene; mother of his children, Velma McDonald; son, Gary McDonald of Abilene; daughters and their spouses, Vicky and Lee Bowser of Alexander, Arkansas, Cathy and Mike Beal of Gig Harbor, Washington, Kristy and Clyde Gardner of Abilene, Carolyn and Jim Roberts of Detroit, Michigan, and Barbara Brown of Shallotte, N.C.; sister-in-law, Betty McDonald of Farmersville, Texas; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 31, in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Bob Ford officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. There will be no scheduled visitation. Friends may pay their respects at anytime during the day at the funeral home.
