Willis Bivins Jr. 63, husband to Zola Traci Bivins and son of the late Willis Edward Bivins and June M. Grosebeck Haines passed away peacefully at his home in Hawley, TX on Sunday, July 24, 2022.
Visitation will be 6:00PM – 8:00PM Thursday July 28, 2022 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM Friday, July 29, 2022 at the above location. Burial to follow at Midway Cemetery Hodges, Jones County, TX
Willis was born in Albany, New York September 10, 1958 and grew up in the small village of Berne, NY. He married Zola Traci on May 24, 2003 in Berne, NY. Together they moved to Hawley, TX where they built a life for 19 years. Willis was no stranger to hard work; he was a very hard working man, often working two jobs just to provide for his family. A true Jack-of-all-trades. He was a kind-hearted and loving man. He loved all of his children and grandchildren and was proud of each of them. As a young man Willis worked on a dairy farm, later moving to the city of Albany, NY where he worked for Trailways Bus Line as a diesel mechanic. Following his move to Hawley, TX, he began work as a Crew Chief for the City of Abilene. He retired in November of 2021. Willis loved playing games and pulling pranks. He had a heart for gift giving and was always there when someone needed a hand.
He was preceded in death by his father Willis Edward Bivins, mother June M. Grosebeck Haines, and brother Richard “Ritchie” Grosebeck. Survived by his wife Zola Traci Bivins, children Christopher Bivins (Laurie) of Castleton, NY, Brian Willis Bivins of Albany, NY, Amanda Rose Bivins of Albany, NY, Heather Rose Bivins of Castleton, NY, Keith Richard Bivins (Hali) of Castleton, NY, Melissa “Missy” Ann Bivins of Valatie, NY, Danielle Paige Faulks of Abilene, TX, Natalie Rose Faulks of Brookhaven, GA, grandchildren Alexander, Bailey, Kailey, Nathan, Kyle, Alexis, Grace, Catalina, Gabriella, Emilo, Travis and Noel, Siblings Shirley LaBarr, Robert “Bobby” Bivins (Susan), Marie Weisheit (Ronald), Rosie Hoesier, and numerous nieces and nephews.
