Willie Mae Parsons (Bill) passed away in her home in Abilene, Texas on Sunday, June 11, 2017. She was 107 years, 6 months, and 26 days young.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 14, in Moran Cemetery in Moran, Texas at 10:30 AM. The service will be officiated by Brother David Cason from Broadview Baptist Church.
Willie Mae (Bill) was born in Moran, Texas on November 15, 1909 in her family home. She graduated from Moran High School and attended two years of business college in Abilene during the Depression. She married Roy Wallace Parsons and moved to Stinnett, Texas in 1933. She was employed as a librarian in Stinnett in 1954 and retired in 1991. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stinnett. She moved to Abilene in 1995.
Willie Mae (Bill) was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and two sisters.
Willie Mae (Bill) is survived by three sons, Wallace Parsons of Abilene, Edwin Parsons and wife Sharon of Hugoton, Kansas, and Roy Parsons and wife Judy of Abilene; three sisters, Louise Shelton of Albany, Dorothy Anderson of Ranger, and Francis Howe and husband Ray of Abilene; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and our caregiver, Sylvia Emerson.
Pallbearers will be Scott Parsons, Mark Criswell, Terry Parsons, Randy Parsons, Landon Parsons and Creed Parsons.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1651 Pine Street, Abilene, TX 79601. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Chad Ezzell and his nurse Lucy, Hendrick Medical Center Staff, and Hendrick Hospice Care.
