William Joe Smith

William Joe Smith, 92, of Abilene, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 at a local nursing center. Committal Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Mr. Smith was born Friday, June 18, 1920 in Eastland, Texas to Will Henry Smith and Minnie Mae (Henderson) Smith. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and survived the attack on Pearl Harbor. For 15 years he processed and bottled milk for Ador Milk Farm in Van Nuys, California. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gladys Bradley Smith, two sisters and three brothers. He is survived by one son, Stanley Smith and wife Tasha of Orangevale, California; one sister, Lavern Low of Lamesa; and two grandsons, Jason and Jacob.
