William Howard Shaw

William Howard "Bill" Shaw of Abilene passed away September 11, 2018.

A memorial service honoring Bill will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.

Bill was born in Gary, Indiana, on August 4th, 1939 to Edith (Green) and Thomas Shaw. He married Judy Benchoff on Flag Day, 1984.

A Vietnam Veteran serving two tours of duty, Bill retired from the US Air Force while at Dyess AFB. He made Abilene his home and received degrees from McMurry and ACU. Bill was a Licensed Professional Counselor and retired psychologist for the State of Texas.

In his retirement he enjoyed Judy's cooking, reading and spending time with his grandson Garrett.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife Judy, by one month; son Steve Shaw and siblings Doris, Mary and Victor.

Bill is survived by his brother Tom Shaw and wife Evi; son Tom Shaw and wife Tina; grandchildren Luke Shaw and wife Amanda and Kyla Gonzales and husband Jason; great grandchildren Aubree and Ainslee Shaw and Jr, Kendra and Esperanza Gonzales; sister-in-law Sandra Hayes and husband Tom; stepdaughter Kimberly Shahan and husband Keith and step grandson Garrett Shahan.

The family is most appreciative of Kindred Hospice and Mesa Springs for their respectful care of Bill.
