William "Bill" Saltsman, 75, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at an Abilene medical center.
Born in Sanger, Texas on October 23, 1936, Bill was the son of Ruby (Bland) and George W. Saltsman. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from East Texas State University and served in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Saltsman was a member of Southern Hills Church of Christ. He retired to Abilene in 2007, having served as a missionary in Korca, Albania. He had been a resident of Abilene since 2007.
Bill married Nancy Banks in Mountain Home, Idaho on October 12, 1961.
His parents; brother, Phillip Saltsman; and three sisters, Linda Bradford, Alta Elrod and Patsy Carraway, preceded Bill in death.
Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy Saltsman of Abilene; son, George Saltsman and wife, Kristen of Abilene; daughter, Dorah Johnson of Bass Springs, Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Carrie Saltsman, Brayden Johnson and Brylie Johnson. Survivors also include three sisters and spouses, Dorothy Elrod and Matt of Artesia, NM, Mary Jane Joiner and Bud of Omaha, TX and Joyce McLaren and Glen of Sherman, TX.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Southern Hills Church of Christ Chapel with Steve Ridgell officiating. Arrangements are being made by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene.
