William Henry Hughes

William “Bill” Hughes, 80, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at a nursing home in Baird, Texas.

Born in Rising Star, Texas on August 28, 1937, Bill was the son of the late Ruth Ann (Cunningham) and W. L. Hughes.  He a U.S. Air Force veteran and had been self-employed in clothing sales.  He was a member of Elmdale Baptist Church.  He moved from Abilene to Baird in 2010.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two daughters, Pamela Ann Hughes and Laura Lee Doyle; one brother, Oscar D. Hughes; and one sister, Lora “Tot” Lesley.

Bill is survived by two daughters, Deborah Kegg and Helen Shook; two sons, Fredrick Hughes and Michael Hughes; one sister, Ora “Tiny” Bodine; ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, July 12, in Clyde Cemetery in Clyde, Texas with Rev. Paul Matta officiating.   Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
