William "Billy" Dean Grosvenor Jr. of Abilene passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, April 1, 2017.
Billy was born in Abilene, Texas on March 20th, 1949, was a graduate of Cooper High School and the University of Texas, and a member of First Central Presbyterian Church. After college, he lived in Mexico City for several years where he taught English and grew his love of Mexican culture. He loved to be with his family, travel, dance with his wife Terry, laugh with his grandson Bennett, play golf, sing, cook, speak Spanish, and read. He was kind, witty, and loved to surprise strangers with random acts of kindness.
Billy started his professional life in Abilene working for Child Welfare where he worked to protect those that did not have a voice and could not help themselves. He also worked at the Abilene State School where he made many friends and touched countless lives.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, William Dean Grosvenor Sr. He is survived by Terry McGlothing Grosvenor, his wife of 37 years, his sons Brandon and Brett, Brett's wife Leanna, and his grandson Bennett. He is also survived by his mother Doris Grosvenor and brother David and his wife Carol as well as many other family members.
A celebration of Billy's life will be held at First Central Presbyterian Church with his good friend, Cliff Stewart, officiating on Friday, April 7th at 11:30am following a private interment. A visitation will also be held at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, on Thursday, April 6th from 5-7pm.
