William Ashley Cox

William Ashley Cox, 56, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at an Abilene medical center. Born in Goldsboro, North Carolina on April 17, 1956, Ashley was the son of Betty Jane (Kearney) and Elwood Eugene Cox. He married Leslie Santana on July 2, 1977 in Goldsboro. In 1982 he moved from Goldsboro, NC to Abilene, where he was an independent contractor and worked for WTU/AEP for 25 years. He loved riding his motorcycle and was a member of The Hog Group. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Elwood Eugene Cox II. Ashley is survived by his wife, Leslie Cox of Abilene; two sons, Sgt. Anthony Cox, US Army, and his wife Tara of Silva, NC, and Joseph Cox of Abilene; brother, Anthony Cox and wife Rita of Goldsboro, NC; sisters and their husbands, Elizabeth Williams and Jay of Freemont, NC, and Carrie Burger and Karl of Goldsboro, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Ashley loved his wife and sons, and was very proud of them. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 29, in Buffalo Gap Cemetery directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Cox, Joseph Cox, Karl Burger, Sam Hunt, James Evett and Cody Woodward. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
