Wendy Brigham Walters Veigel
Wendy Veigel, age 69, of Abilene Texas joined the angels in Heaven on March 20, 2015 in Abilene, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal in Abilene TX on Friday March 27, 2015 at eleven o’clock in the morning. Burial will follow at the church’s columbarium. Arrangements are directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Wendy was born in Hartford, CT to Charles and Gladys Walters on September 17, 1945. Her formative years were spent at Mary Burnham School in Holyoke MA. Wendy graduated from Centenary College in NJ and continued her studies at the University of North Dakota. She began her career as a professional model for Jantzen and the Ford Agency in New York. She married Richard Veigel in West Hartford, CT on January 22, 1966 and dedicated her life to her family and the Air Force. She was active in a number of civic charities such as American Red Cross of the Dyess Air Force Base Pharmacy, Airman’s Family Assistance in Grand Forks, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Church of the Heavenly Rest youth sponsorship.
Wendy was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Walters; father, Charles Walters; Jean Sloan, stepmother; Dick Walters and Phillip Walters, her siblings; Catherine Montgomery, granddaughter. She is survived by her spouse of 49 years, Richard Veigel, and their three children, Stephen Veigel and his spouse Joanna, Kimberly Montgomery and her spouse Brent, and Tracy McKenna and her spouse Brian. Survivors also include grandchildren, Kennedy and Cooper Veigel, Anna Montgomery, and Aiden and Thea McKenna, and stepbrothers, Spencer and Harry Sloan.
Memorials may be given to support the youth ministry at the Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal, 602 Meander, Abilene, TX 79602.
