Wendell Webb, 82, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 in Abilene. Graveside service will be Tuesday, October 18th at 11:00a.m. at Spring Creek Cemetery in Avoca, TX.
Wendell Webb was born September 8, 1940 in McKee County, Kentucky to Armon and Gladys Gilbert Webb. He grew up in Hollbrook, Grant County, Kentucky just outside of Williamstown and attended Grant County High School. He also attended Mt. Piscan United Methodist Church in Hollbrook, Kentucky.
It was Wendell’s love for his work with the cable TV that brought him to Texas in 1963. He met Pat in 1964, fell in love, and married in 1966. After several years traveling with his work they settled down in Abilene, Texas to raise their family. Wendell retired from cable TV in 2008.
Wendell is survived by: his spouse, Patricia “Pat” Webb of Abilene, Texas, daughter Cindy Collier and spouse Joe Dan of Baird, Texas, son Jason Webb and spouse Crystal of Ross, Texas, son Wendell Webb Jr and daughter Elizabeth Webb, both of Georgetown, Kentucky.
Grandchildren: Ashton and Jared Wallace of Abilene, Texas, Ty Bertrand of Stephenville, Texas, Landen Webb of Ross, Texas, Paige Chapman and Rode Chapman of Lubbock, Texas and Sonya Hertzog of Neenah, Wisconsin.
Five Great Grandchildren: Lincoln Wallace, Tatum Wallace, Arrianna Webb, Cheyenne Webb, and Nicholas Hertzog.
Preceded in death by: Father, Armon Webb, Mother, Gladys Gilbert Webb, Brothers, Alvis and Landis Webb, Sisters, Lillian Robinson and Phyllis Lewis.
Wendell “Poppy” will always be remembered for his quick-witted humor, his love for his work, and most of all, his love for his family. Wendell was a great husband, father, great grandfather, and friend.
