Welton Alexander Bowman went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday morning at his home and farms which he loved. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the Lawn Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Gap Cemetery.
Welton was born to Terry Alexander Bowman and Julia Josephine (Roberts) Bowman on September 29, 1927 in Potosi, Texas. He was raised in the Potosi-Cedar Gap area and lived most of his life in Abilene.
He was married to Mary Pinkston, the love of his life for 57 years, at Cedar Gap Church. They moved to their farm in Oplin in 1978. He was a loving husband, Dad and Papa who was much respected and loved by his family. His family was his pride and joy. Welton was a plumber for Dotson Plumbing for 40 years and spent his remaining years farming in Oplin. He loved his church, Lawn Baptist, where he served faithfully as a deacon for many years. He also served at Belmont Baptist. He was a member of Plumber's and Pipe fitter's Union local 654 for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, one daughter-in-law, Brenda Bowman, and a granddaughter, Heather Millican. He is survived by his wife, Mary Bowman of Oplin, one son Elvin Bowman and his wife Patti; two daughters, Joan Millican and her husband Larry, Mendy Stogsdill and her husband Steve; granddaughters, Molly (Phillip) Thomas, Joy (Jason) Beard, Christy (Randy) Clark, Laura Millican, Daniel Millican, Emily Stogsdill, and great granddaughter's, Kaylee and Reese Thomas.
We, his family, are grateful for the Godly legacy of faith and family he has given.
