Wayne C. “Cotton” Cook, 91, of Abilene, passed away on July 10, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 14, 2015, after the service at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Wayne was born in Sperry, Oklahoma to Claude and Olive Clara (Ragsdale) Cook on August 7, 1923. He attended school in Texon, Texas. He married Deborah Bryan Hansen on March 12, 1999 in Abilene. Most of his life, he worked in the oilfield as a roughneck and driller. In his later years he worked as a pumper for John Chalmers. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and enjoyed playing dominos, especially with his brothers. He was preceded in death by his wife Deborah; his parents; brothers Bernard, Junior Ray, Robert Stanley; an infant sister and a grandson Roger Rowland. He is survived by daughters Hazel Lois Cutburth and husband Randy of Burns Flat, OK, Tamara Klein of Abilene, Cinnamon Keith of Abilene and Marandi Whisenhunt and husband Randy of Clyde, TX; son Wayne Cook, Jr. and wife Sue of Canute, OK; brother Gene Cook and wife Jo of San Angelo , TX; grandchildren: Bonnie Mohan, Larry Wayne Cook, Nancy Mallory, Randi Cutburth, Aundrea Cooper, Sydney Wright, Aaron Cook, Taylor Keith, Austin Keith, Cody Shaver and Lane Whisenhunt; great grandchildren: Nathan Looke, Jessica Looke, Kimberly Griffin, Lynsey Wood, Ryan Harris, Kaleb Harris, Marina Montelongo, Bentlee Keith and McKinlee Keith; great great grandchildren: Demi Collins, Eva Collins Karter Griffin, Kellyn Griffin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
