Warthia Mae Woods Warthia Mae Woods, 91, of Abilene, died Sunday, November 8, 2009, in Abilene. The daughter of Estella (Traylor) and James Edmond, she was born on June 26, 1918, in Cason, Texas, and for over 40 years had been a resident of Abilene where she married Johnny Woods. Warthia Mae was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Abilene. She worked for the John Hamil family for over 20 years before retiring, and she was thought of by the Hamils as a part of their family. Her parents; six brothers, James Edmond, Lee Edmond, Goree Edmond, Buford Edmond, Hughie Edmond, and Ernest Edmond; and one sister, Ola Edmond, preceded her in death. Warthia Mae is survived by her husband of 52 years Johnny Woods, brother Ruford "Bo" Edmond, and sister Betty Louise Jenkins, all of Abilene, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 14th, at Faith Deliverance Community Church with The Reverend Danny K. Edmond officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Beauford Edmond, David Edmond, Melvin Edmond, Kevin Mayberry, Terrance Linwood and James Edmond.
