Wanda Welch

Wanda Welch, 87, of Merkel, passed away on March 10, 2023 in Abilene, TX.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 18^th at 2:00 pm, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Kevin Kennedy of Trinity Baptist church officiating.

Family graveside services will follow at the Stith Cemetery.  Services under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Wanda was born in Merkel, Texas to J. Deward Bradley and Dovie Inez Dishman on February 7, 1936.  She spent her school years in the Merkel school system, graduating from Merkel High.  She married Sog Welch on October 9, 1959, in Merkel, Texas.  After spending many years as a stay-at-home wife and mother, she worked in banking until her retirement.  As a family we started attending Trinity Baptist in 1967.  She served in her church for many years, predominately in the music department.  She played the piano, organ, and sang in the choir.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Sog Welch, and youngest brother Sherman Bradley.

Wanda is survived by her son Brad Welch and wife Terri, her daughter Judy Stoneham and husband Tommy, four granddaughters, three grandsons-in-law, eight great grandchildren, and younger brother Canon Bradley. 

Memorials may be given to Stith Cemetery, 16207 FM 1235, Merkel, TX 79536, or the charity of your choice.
