Wanda Jean Dawson

Wanda Jean Dawson, 86, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 in Abilene, Texas. She was born December 28, 1928 in Talpa, Texas, to Roy M. and Frankie B. Brown. She attended schools in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School in 1946. She was employed by S & H Green Stamps for 13 1/2 years and The Bootery, a shoe store in Abilene, for 13 1/2 years. On July 19, 1948, she married William P. Ross who preceded her in death. She married Gene Dawson on September 12, 1972. He also preceded her in death. Mrs. Dawson was also preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Roy Brown, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Pat Revell of San Angelo, Texas, and her brother, Jerry Don Brown of Artesia, New Mexico. Survivors also include her beloved dog, Callie, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a very loving and caring friend to many. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 18, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Rudy Fambrough officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
