Walter "Bud" Danko, of Abilene, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008 at the age of 59. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Father Fred Nawarskas will officiate. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. There will be a visitation at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25 with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
May 12, 1949, Bud was born in Cohoes, New York to the late Walter A. Danko, Sr. and Hazel A. (Lanthier) Danko. He graduated from Shenendehowa High School and Potsdam State University in New York with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. Bud married Carol E. Parker on May 1, 1971. He was a Systems Operation Manager for PACTIV for 22 years. He retired in 2005 and moved to Abilene from Illinois. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Walter's parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Carol Danko, of Abilene; one son, Brian Stephen Danko and his wife Jodi, and one daughter Carrie Jo Myers and her husband Greeley, all of Abilene; two sisters, Paula Schultz and Lisa Lunderman and her husband Kris, all of Austin; two grandchildren, Grant Matthew Myers and Nolan Christopher Myers; as well as several nieces and nephews.
