Don was born in Hamby, TX to Milton and Alice Roberts Williams on December 21, 1934. He attended school in Hamby and Abilene where he graduated from Abilene High School and Hardin-Simmons University.

He married Rose Mary Berry on June 1, 1963, in Carbon, TX. They made their home in Abilene where they raised their two children while teaching for the Abilene Independent School District. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, his son, Andrew Williams, his daughter and son-in-law, Kara and Randy Blackwell, his sister, Ouida Johnson, his grandsons, Aden and Caleb Blackwell, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
