W.E. Sims, 92, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at The Oaks at Radford Hills Nursing Home in Abilene, Texas.
The son of Lillie (Carter) and Lonnie Sims, W.E. was born on April 28, 1921 in Gatesville, Texas. He moved from Stanton, Texas to Abilene in 1940. W.E. was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served in World War II in the Battle of Iwo Jima.
In Abilene, he owned and operated Sims Pest Control Service from 1961-1992, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
W.E. married Alice Louise Carter in Abilene in 1951. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and two brothers, Vernon Sims and Ray B. Owen Sims.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, in Midway Cemetery at Hodges, Texas, with Bob Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene.
