W. Joye Comontofski, age 85, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017, in Abilene, Texas. Our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend went to her heavenly home where once again her body is healed and free of pain and confusion.
A memorial service will be held at 1:45 pm on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Local arrangements were by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Joye was born in Brady, Texas, to Dow and Della (Hitchcock) Ranne on December 31, 1931. She attended school in San Angelo, Texas.
Joye married Eugene (Gene) J. Comontofski on September 7, 1990, in San Antonio, Texas. She worked in retail sales in her early career and worked for Scriveners Department Store in San Antonio, Texas, as a fashion buyer until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dow and Della Ranne, her husband Eugene J. Comontofski, and her brother Gerald Jack Ranne and step daughter-in-law and stepson-in-law.
Joye is survived by one son Bret and his wife Barbara McCartney of Clyde, Texas, one brother James Ranne of Mullins, Texas, two granddaughters Carrie Conner of Clyde, Texas and Christina McCartney of Abilene, Texas, two great granddaughters Rylee Conner and Emma Conner of Clyde, Texas.
Joye is survived also by Gene’s children Craig and his wife Linda Comontofski of West Virginia, Ken Comontofski of Idaho, Carol Elliot of Austin, Texas, Gene’s grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces.
Thank you to all of the wonderful caregivers that have blessed her with love and care both in San Antonio and Abilene.
