Virginia “Ginny” Glynn Breland, 72, of Abilene, TX, passed away on December 24, 2023, at her home in Abilene.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Friday, December 29, 2023, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, December 30 at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery located at US 277, Abilene, TX. Burial To follow directly after the graveside service. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX.

Virginia “Ginny” Breland was born at Stamford Memorial Hospital to Joseph Van Buren (J.V.) and Betty Trammell on July 24, 1951. The family moved from Aspermont, TX to Abilene, TX in 1961 where she attended Jane Long Elementary, Mann Junior High, and graduated from Abilene High School in May of 1969. She then attended Abilene Christian University and married Darrell Gene Breland on August 4, 1972 in Abilene. Together, she and Darrell started Darrell Breland Motors where she worked as a bookkeeper and business partner to Darrell. She was a long-time member of Junior League of Abilene where she served many years volunteering for the community through projects and fundraisers such as Back Packs For Kids, Christmas Carousel, and The Buffalo Gap Art Festival. Ginny had impeccable taste and took pride in keeping an immaculately clean and organized home. She loved decorating and interior design. The home was definitely her “happy place.” Christmas was her favorite time of the year when she enjoyed wrapping all of her presents with handmade bows and metallic leopard wrapping paper. She got so much joy out of her Christmas Snow Village and other special decorations. Ginny was the most attentive mother, grandmother, and wife. She lived a very selfless life while always thinking of the needs and wants of her closest loved ones. 

Ginny was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Stacey Glynn & Tracey Anne Breland, her parents, Joseph Van Buren (J.V.) & Betty Trammell, and two aunts, Maxine Hefner and Christine Altman. 

Ginny is survived by her husband, Darrell Breland: her children, Cody Breland and wife Jennifer, Haley Tabor and husband Justin: her sister Linda Scott and husband Maurice of Clyde: and her four grandchildren, Canyen Breland, Colten Breland, Breland Tabor, and Paisley Tabor.

Pallbearers will be Canyen Breland, Colten Breland, Melvin Lewis, Larry McCarty, Dr. Gary Roark, Cody Morrow, Tommy Guy, Jim Hargett, Hubble Smith, and Alan Wright.
