Virginia Lois Curry, age 83, went peacefully home to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 25, 2009. She was born July 5, 1926 in Cherokee, Oklahoma to Edna Mae Harper Mann and Abe L. Mann.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jim B. Curry; her daughter, Carol Ann Nelson and her sister, Dorothy Ziemian. She is survived by her brother Bill Mann and wife Dee of San Antonio, Texas; her son Jim Curry Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana; her daughter Cindy Hendricks and husband Tim of Austin, Texas; her grandson Curry Shackelford and wife Krystal of Knox City, Texas and granddaughter Anna Kay Shackelford of San Angelo, Texas.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 28th, from 6-8 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Her life willl be celebrated and remembered by her family and friends on Thursday, October 29th, at 1 pm, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Texas, officiated by Reverend David Cason. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She chose to respond to the experiences of life with an open heart. Virginia knew God brings forth the good in any situation and turned in prayer with faith knowing there is a way through any shadow into the light. For nothing will be impossible with God. - Luke 1:37
Her family is very grateful for the compassionate care received from Dr. Beth Hellerstedt and staff, Dr. Tom Carlson, the staff of The Summit at Northwest Hills, Seton Hospital and Hospice Austin.
