Virginia Campbell, 91, died Monday, October 16, 2006 in Abilene. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday October 19, 2006 in Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Virginia was born on April 6, 1915 in Cleburne, Texas to J.B. Carlisle, Sr. and Maude Alma (Flatt) Carlisle. She graduated from Oak Cliff High School in Dallas, Texas. On May 5, 1934, Virginia married H.E. (Gene) Campbell in Durante, Oklahoma. She was a secretary for the Dallas Independent School District for 30 years. Virginia and Gene moved to Abilene from Venus, Texas three years ago. She was a member of the Eastern Star, a life member of P.T.A., served on the committee to save Social Security and Medicare, and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Virginia was a member of the Church of Christ in Venus, Texas.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Lawrence, Joseph Patrick, and Robert Wayne Carlisle and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Carlisle Tippens. She is survived by her husband, H.E. (Gene) Campbell of Abilene, her daughter, Jo Anne Jamison and her husband Fred, Jr. of Abilene; three grandchildren Jerri Adams and her husband Butch of Blue Ridge, Virginia, Jenni Jamison Priest and her husband Ed of Abilene, and Fred Jamison III and his wife Hilary of Abilene; four great-grandchildren, Emily Grace Adams and William Parker Adams III of Blue Ridge, Virginia, Parker McInnis Jamison and Creede Campbell Jamison of Abilene; five brothers, John Byron Carlisle, Jr. and wife Mozelle, Charles Richard Carlisle and wife Millie, David Lankston Carlisle and wife Dorothy, Randolph Ray Carlisle and wife Bess, and Walter Glenn Carlisle and wife Lula.
