Virginia Willeen Roberts, 92, of Abilene passed away on September 15, 2024, after a lengthy illness in Abilene, Texas.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 24, 2024 at Elliott Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery - Garden of Prayers area - 5701 Hwy 277 South.
Visitation will begin 12:00 at Abilene Aldersgate Methodist Church followed by the celebration of life service at 1:00 with Dustin Willhite officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Willeen was born in Coleman County to Aubry O. Feeler and Susan EraLee Thomason. She graduated from Mozelle High School in 1949 and then attended McMurry University. She graduated from Wayland Baptist University (BS) and Texas Women's University (MS).
She married her high school sweetheart, Doyle Glyn Roberts, March 11, 1951, in the Methodist church located in Voss, Texas. Willeen worked as a cosmetologist most of her working career. She owned her own business and then became the Instructor of Cosmetology at Abilene High School. During her 22 years of teaching at Abilene High she was selected as the State of Texas Vocational Teacher of the Year and took several VICA teams to Nationals during those memorable years. She served as a Director of the Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union, was a former member of the Abilene Woman's Club and was a past president for the local and district Abilene Retired Teachers Association. She has been a loyal/faithful member of the Methodist Church her entire life.
Willeen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Leo Feeler, sister Illa Pearle Feeler Fenton and sister in-law Joyce Lee Roberts Brown.
She is survived by her daughter Becky Roberts (Wendell) Decker of Slaton, granddaughter Ashleigh (Matt Rhea) Jones of Dallas, Texas and great-grandson Austin Jones of Dallas, Texas. Also surviving Willeen is her brother Edward (Lynette) Feeler of Clyde, sisters Juanita Feeler Holtz of Abilene, and Hazel Mae (Cookie) Feeler Averett of Breckenridge. Willeen is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, cousins and a special pup-Bootsy.
Willeen spent her last years at Wesley Court in Abilene where she made many new friends and enjoyed so many activities. A heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of Wesley Court, Visiting Angels and to all those who visited.
