Violet Casity Lee, 97, died Thursday, October 15, 2015, in Abilene, Texas.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 19, in Gruver Cemetery in Gruver, Texas.
The daughter of Maude E. (Hall) and Andrew Johnson Casity, Violet was born on April 4, 1918 near Hallett, Oklahoma. In Gruver, Texas, she was a farmer’s wife who worked alongside of her husband helping with all of the farm chores. She was a longtime member of Gruver Church of Christ before moving nine years ago to Abilene where she was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ. She was a loving mother with a strong personality who will be missed by all.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar D. Lee in 1993; daughter, Margaret Fortner; son, Dean Lee; grandson, Russell Washburn; and great-great-grandson, Stockton Shorb. She was the youngest of twelve children reared by her parents as a family, including two half-brothers, four brothers, three sisters and two adopted nieces, all whom preceded Violet in death.
Violet is survived by one son, Kenneth Lee and his wife Carol of Irving, Texas; one daughter, Gail McMillan of Abilene; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
