Viola, (Tot), of Abilene, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014 in Abilene. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm, Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Wisteria Chapel, 3202 South Willis St. Dave Hare will be greeting and offering reflections. Interment will be at Hansford County Cemetery in Spearman, Texas, directed by Boxwell Brothers of Spearman, Texas. Local arrangements were by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Viola was born in Amherst, Texas to Robert E. Lee Wagner and Leavy Isabel Prichard Wagner on August 25, 1930. She attended and graduated from Texas Tech University. Viola married L.W. Rosenbaum, Jr. in December of 1950. They made their home in Olds Hansford County ranching and farming. Besides raising her children, she was involved in the Hansford County Home Demonstration Club, the United Methodist Church, the local 4-H chapter, and the Texas Cystic Fibrosis Chapter. In 1976, she and L.W. began traveling and then moved to Marshall, Texas where they farmed blueberries and Christmas trees. Then, they frequently traveled and lived in other areas: Ajo, AZ: Bainbridge Island, WA; Clyde, TX and Abilene, TX. She has made many friends in her moving adventures.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Charles Wagner; her sister, Bobbie Wagner Miller; and three children, Teddie Lee, Karen Dian and Everett Andrew.
Viola is survived by her children, Kelly Rosenbaum and wife Fredda Bedford Rosenbaum of Abilene, Vicky Rosenbaum Collard and husband Randy Collard of Seattle, WA; her grandchildren, Lee Wagner Rosenbaum and wife Catherine Deming of Abilene, Ada Rosenbaum and husband Mike Warren of Germany, Megan Collard and Matthew Collard, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; and her great-grandchild, Luke Wyatt Rosenbaum, of Abilene. She is also survived by her sister, Mildred Wagner Powell of Twin Falls, ID; her brother, William Wagner of Victoria, TX; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Rosenbaum Varnum and Charles Varnum, of Eugene, OR; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Viola (Tot) will be missed by the staff and many friends at Wisteria Place Assisted Living. She was a very kind and giving person and a wonderful, nurturing woman and she lived her life as a witness to the graciousness and mercy of God.
Her favorite charities are the Salvation Army and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. You may give memorials to them in her name, in lieu of flowers.
