Vicente “Vince” Rocha Rangel, 53, of Abilene, Texas, died of cancer on June 26, 2013, at Hendrick Hospice in Abilene.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 28th, at Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29th, at Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mary E. Glover of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Vince was born to Refugio Rocha Rangel and Adelina G. Ricondo on May 30, 1960, in San Antonio, TX. He moved to Abilene in 1981 and worked as a cook and bartender at a number of local restaurants including The Outpost, Steak & Ale, and The Zone. He was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the San Antonio Spurs and enjoyed watching Monday Night Wrestling on T.V. with his son, Thomas.
Vince is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Refugio “Cookie” Rangel, sister, Sylvia Almanza, and brother-in-law, Zeke Herrera.
Vince is survived by daughter, Sarah Rangel, son, Thomas Rangel, and his companion, Rosie Scifres, all of Abilene; brothers, Arthur (Mary) Ricondo, Victor (Patsy) Rangel, Edward Rangel, Richard Rangel; and sisters, Jane Herrera, Maria (Tony) Rodriguez, Anjanette (Lance) Langford, Isabel (Louis) Brunn, Gracie (David) Rangel; former wife, Nancy Glover Rangel; and 22 nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Richard Rangel, Victor Rangel, Edward Rangel, Rick Kristofferson, Nick Chabek, and James “Raz” Arazamowitz.
