Vijayakumari Kapu

Vijayakumari Kapu passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2014 in Abilene, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Friends are welcome to gather at 10:00 am prior to the service. Vijaya was born in Retur, India to Nagabhushanam and Subbamma Nannapaneni on September 15, 1949. She married Gopichand Kapu in India. She moved to England with her husband during his medical training. Upon moving to the United States, Vijaya lived briefly in New York and North Carolina before settling in Anson, Texas. She was an avid cook and friends and family were the fortunate beneficiaries of her efforts. After moving to Texas, she always had a garden of vegetables and flowers which she tended with natural skill, making it look easy. She loved to take care of her grandchildren to whom she was completely devoted and for whom she represented an ideal grandparent. She was kind and social, with many friends she accumulated over her travels throughout life. She will be remembered for her smile and her generosity and will be missed by all who knew her. Vijaya is survived by her spouse; two daughters, Ameeta and Rajani; two brothers, Prasad Nannapaneni and Ravi Nannapaneni; and her grandchildren, Nikita, Subash and Avani. The family of Vijaya wishes to extend our sincere thanks to her many close friends who supported her.
