Vickie Lynn Davis, 59, of Abilene, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at a local hospital. Viewing will be today, Friday, December 19, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 5701 Highway 277 South, in the Garden of Prayer.
August 15, 1949, Vickie was born in Gorman, Texas to Robert Thomas Davis and Billie Jean (McGuire) Davis. She graduated from Abilene High School and received a Bachelor's Degree from Hardin-Simmons University, where she a member of the Beta Social Club and Capers (HSU), which is part of the ROTC. She was a school teacher at Bowie Elementary for 27 years. Vickie also worked in the business office and the post office at Hardin-Simmons.
Vickie was a member of University Baptist Church. She played the piano and organ at the Oak Street Baptist Church in Colorado City and at the Hannah Baptist Church in Anson. While attending Abilene High School, Vickie played the flute in the band.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Thomas Davis, in October of 2004. She is survived by her mother, Billie Davis, of Abilene.
