Vicki Sanders

Vicki Ann Sanders, 80, of Abilene, went to her eternal home on August 18, 2024, in Abilene.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, August 23, 2024, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 24, 2024, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Vicki Ann Sanders was born in Brownwood, TX on June 12, 1944. The family moved to San Marcos, TX when she was young, and that is where she spent the majority of her childhood years. She went to school in San Marcos and graduated from Southwest Texas State University, with a degree in Education. While at Southwest Texas she performed as one of the world-famous “Strutters”.

She married Thomas Vaughn Sanders on December 29, 1968, in Austin, TX. She worked for AISD for many years in various positions, retiring in 1999. She was involved in the Boy Scout Program, PTA, and cheered her sons along as a swimmer’s mom.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 50 years, Thomas, parents Troy and Billie Davidson, and her grandmother Georgia “Gannie” Walker.

Vicki is survived by her son Craig Sanders and his wife Kathy of Abilene, TX, her son Scott Sanders and his wife Marle of Austin, TX, her sister Connie Jo Mitchell of Kyle, TX, grandchildren: Nicole, Amy, Matthew, Kelsey, Ethan, Logan, Ryleigh, Kaitlyn, her great granddaughter Stella, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to the Nehemiah Campaign at Zion Lutheran Church in Abilene, TX, or Kinder Hearts Hospice in Abilene.

The family wants to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Samantha Goodman, the staff of Wisteria Place, the staff and nurses of Kinder Hearts Hospice, her favorite physical therapist, Jonathan Brokaw, and Zion Lutheran Church.
