Valeria (Vi) Jeannette Bunker, 81, of Hamby, passed away unexpectedly on October 4th, 2018 at her home in Hamby.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 13th, 2018 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Carroll Perkins will officiate.
Vi was born in Piqua, Ohio to Rachael Jeannette and William Francis Nye on March 10th, 1937. She attended school in Piqua, Ohio and graduated from Piqua High School in 1955. She married Gerald Wayne Bunker on May 18, 1959 in Dayton, Ohio. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone for many years. Vi also worked for the Hamby Elementary as a bus driver and eventually started working for Non-Appropriated Fund services at Dyess AFB. During her 25+ years there she worked at the Class VI store, Veterinary Services for many years and finally ending her career at Outdoor Recreational Services. Vi was active in VFW Auxiliary, Cooties Auxiliary, and NCOA Auxiliary. She was also active playing in Shuffleboard tournaments. Over her lifetime she saved over 500 cats and found them homes.
Vi was preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband, Gerald Wayne Bunker.
Vi is survived by her eldest daughter, Tamara Lea Lunsford and husband Kenneth Matthew Lunsford; her son, Brant Royal Bunker and wife Marci Bunker; and youngest daughter Carissa Irene Bunker. In addition, she is survived by her sister Marcia Wight; granddaughters, Rachael Jeannette Lunsford and Jamie Alexandra Lunsford; and nieces Robin Lynn Bennett and Dawn Rachelle Wight.
The family of Vi Bunker wishes to extend our sincere love and thanks to Herb Quinn and his entire family for the love and devotion given to Vi. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to your local no-kill animal shelter or another animal charity of your choosing.
