Verna Rathmell

Verna Rathmell, 94, of Abilene, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024. She was born in Abilene, TX on June 24, 1930 to her parents, John Bowles and Ethel (Nesmith) Bowles. Verna graduated Wylie Highschool in 1947. On July 9, 1951,

Verna married Charles Rathmell, her husband of 68 years. She was employed by the Crane County Agent Office as Administrative Assistant in Crane, Texas for many years before moving back to the farm she grew up on with her husband Charles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles and her oldest son Charles Michael.

Verna is survived by her son Dan Rathmell and wife Irma, Grand Children Brett and Cody Rathmell, Krista Gibson and husband Ryan, Taylor Rathmell and great Grandchildren Riley and Keaton Gibson and daughter in law Karen Rathmell as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Verna will be held at a date to be announced.
