Ray was born September 1, 1947 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He attended Western Oregon University, graduating in 1969 with a degree in Biology. He was drafted into the US Air Force. His career took him to South East Asia, then to Medical school, training him as a Physician Assistant. He practiced in Abilene and Wichita Falls, Texas, until a stroke disabled him. It was said by all with whom he came in contact that he was the epitome of his profession. He had the passion and compassion that lasted until his death on January 20, 2010.
He leaves behind his partner, Gery Guenter, and his two beloved Great Pyrenees dogs. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
It was his wish that in lieu of flowers a gift be given to the Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue Organization.
A service celebrating his life will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, at The Church of the Good Shepherd, Episcopal, in Wichita Falls, Texas, Father Scott Wooten and The Reverend Liz Talbert officiating. Local arrangements are being made by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
