V.E. Bryant, of Abilene, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the age of 81. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, April 24 at Southwest Drive United Methodist Church, with Pastor Rob Blum officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends today, Wednesday, April 23 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
In Abilene, Texas on June 17, 1926, V.E. was born to George Everett Bryant and Hattie Mae (Hays) Bryant. He grew up in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School and McMurry University. V.E. married Margaret Evelyn Vanderveer on March 8, 1952 in Abilene, Texas. He was employed as an Auditor for 17 years for Taylor County and was previously employed with a local utility company for 31 years. V.E. was a member of Southwest Drive United Methodist Church.
V.E. was preceded in death by his father, George Everett Bryant in 1940, and his mother, Hattie Mae Bryant in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Bryant, of Abilene; two daughters, Brynda Bryant Presnall and her husband Winston, of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, Dr. Janice Bryant Cooper and her husband Jerry, of Lake Worth, Texas; and three grandchildren, Derek Presnall, Layna Presnall, and Katie Cooper.
Bobby Melson, Scott McDonald, Richard Petree, Steven Parker, Larry Vanderveer, Jim Vanderveer, Larry Denton, and Dave Safford will serve as pallbearers.
