Troy L. Cooley
Troy L. Cooley, 62, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 17, 2006 due to a vehicle accident. Funeral services, with Jerry Palmer officiating, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
November 26, 1943, Troy was born in Littlefield, Texas to Dock Lankford and Reba (Garner) Cooley. He graduated from Hawley High School in 1962. In Abilene, Troy married Judith Isbell on December 28, 1962. He retired from Huntsman Corporation in Odessa. Troy enjoyed many things in life, including watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, listening to music, playing Solitaire, Mexican food, birthday cake, Levis, boots, reading the Bible and Louis L'Amour, and had a passion for automobiles. He also enjoyed carpentry work, and now The Great Carpenter has called our carpenter home. Mr. Cooley was a member of First Baptist Church of Clyde. He loved his family dearly and especially loved hugging his kids and grandkids.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents and his best friend, Shorty Bob.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Cooley of Gun Barrel City, Texas; his son, Scott Cooley of Gun Barrel City, Texas; his daughter Teri Cooley Blackburn and her husband Freddie of Red Oak, Texas; brother Donald Cooley and his wife Saundra of Abilene; brother-in-law Sam Isbell; sister-in-law Kay Pfeiffer and her husband Karl; five grandchildren, Rocky, Nia, Nakai, Steve and Kimber; five nieces, Jamie, Sara, Regina and her husband Bruce, Donna and her husband Joe, Christy and her husband Will; one nephew Kent Isbell; aunts, uncles, several grand nieces, nephews, numerous cousins and a host of friends in Abilene, Odessa and elsewhere. Dale Brewer, Johnny Murphy, Don McGill, Baize Taylor, Chester Moses and Jon Lambert will serve as pallbearers.
