Tressie Fay Doughtie, of Abilene, passed away November 30, 2024, at the home of her sister, from complications following a long illness.
A private celebration of her life will be held for family and friends on Saturday, December 7, 2024. A memorial service will be held in Fort Worth at a date and time to be determined.
Tressie was born in Strong City, Oklahoma to Roy and Vernie Burns on March 21, 1930. She was raised in Oklahoma and Portales, New Mexico. Tressie and V.W. Kyte, Jr., married in July 1948. Three daughters were born before Mr. Kyte died in a July 1955 accident. In 1960 Tressie met and married John A. Doughtie III.
Tressie's life was filled with family, golf, painting and later the delights of being a grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
She was proceeded in death by husbands, V.W. Kyte, Jr., and John A. Doughtie III; parents, Roy and Vernie Burns; sister, Roberta Bird; and brother, Darrell Burns.
Tressie is survived by daughters, Diana and Roger Hollowell, Susan K. Day, Karen and Arless Loftis; sister, Nannie Lea Langley; grandchildren, Derick Hollowell, Irish Blair, Brandy Justice, Dena Dupree; great grandchildren, Michael Downey, Nichole Nix, Elizabeth Stevens, J Justice, Grace Justice, Brandon Justice, and Andrea Hollowell; great-great grandchildren, Abby Downey, Zander Downey, Savannah Riley, Shawn Stevens, Jr.
