Tommy J. Wheeler

1926 — August 31, 2013

Tommy J. Wheeler passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the age of 87. Tommy was an Abilene resident having moved to Abilene at age 3. He attended Abilene schools and Hardin-Simmons University and served in the Army Air Corp. during World War II. Visitation will be held at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road on Monday, September 2, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at the Hext Community Cemetery in Menard County. Tommy Wheeler was born in Lubbock on June 21, 1926. He married Erma Charline Davis on June 15, 1952 in Abilene, Texas. Tommy was a long time furniture salesman and retired from Andrews Furniture. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lora Ovid and Willie Elizabeth Turley Wheeler; brothers, Turley and Jim Bob Wheeler; and his eldest son, Stephen. He is survived by his wife, Charline; brother, Bill Wheeler and wife Doris of Austin; son, David Wheeler and wife Marcy of Menard County; son, Thomas Wheeler and wife Donna of Abilene; son, Charles Wheeler and wife Angela of Anson; daughter, Dianne Holly and husband Bill of Haskell; and grandchildren, Meagan, Mason, Brian, Breanna, Michael Anne, Kellye, Casey and Garrett. Tommy was loved and will be greatly missed by his family.
