Tommie Cozby, 48, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas. Graveside services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Elmwood Memorial Park located at 5750 Highway 277 South in Abilene, Texas. Burial will be in the Garden of Ten Commandments section. Rev. Oscar Fanning will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. February 27, 1959, Tommie was born in Lubbock, Texas to Franklin Jackson Cozby, Jr. and Dura Mae (Waldrop) Cozby. She moved to Abilene in 1962 from Lubbock. Tommie graduated from Wylie High School in 1977. While attending Hardin-Simmons University, Tommie worked at Hendrick Medical Center in the pharmacy from 1979 to 1985. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1988 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. In 1989, Tommie moved to Lewisburg, West Virginia where she worked as a Pharmacist for two years before returning to Abilene. While living in Abilene she worked as a Pharmacist for Drug Emporium and Advance Medical Pharmacies. In 1995, Tommie began her career with Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo where she worked as a Pharmacist until the time of her death. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in 2003 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. While living in West Virginia she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an active participant in the youth organization "JUST GIRLS" in Tuscola and Buffalo Gap until her death. Tommie was a regular donor at the Meek Blood Center in Abilene until her illness prevented her from giving. She was also a member of various pharmaceutical associations. Tommie was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Abilene. Preceding Tommie in death were her grandparents and her mother, Dura Mae Cozby in 1990. She is survived by her father, Frank J. Cozby, Jr. of Abilene, one brother, Franklin (Jackie) Cozby, III and his wife Mary Ruth of Tuscola, Texas, one niece, Ashley Ruth Cozby also of Tuscola, numerous cousins and friends. The family will be staying at the home of Frank Cozby. Honorary pallbearers will be the "Just Girls Group". Memorials may be made in honor of Tommie Jean Cozby to Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, Texas 79605 or to the donor's favorite charity.
